Newborn sessions can take anywhere from 1 to 2 hours and sometimes more – it all depends on baby’s mood on the day. There will most likely be a little bit of crying involved as it’s a new situation for a baby but once they settle to sleep they are happier and I can work quickly to get the images you’ll love. If baby doesn’t sleep – don’t worry – not every baby will settle in a photosession situation but the younger they are the better the chances. What if baby is very unsettled? – That’s OK – just bring along a long sleeve plain black T-shirt and we can use mum or dad as the backdrop.
A mini session is a quick 30 – 35 minute photosession that is purely catering to the short attention span of babies and young children. If your little one is not yet walking it generally happens indoors in a studio set up. There will be a number of different backdrops used and possibly a few low key props as well and I will move quickly to keep your little one interested and get some awesome shots. For outdoor sessions there will be a lot of tickling and playful running around to catch the smiles.
A mini session only really give enough time to concentrate on one subject so for groups or families a standard length session is a better option.
This is a normal length photo session of around 1 hour. It allows for up to 4 people to be involved and is usually held at an outdoor location. It is similar to the mini session in structure, however, it’s just a bit longer.
This is an opportunity to get to know your photographer better, build trust between you and get some great pre wedding images. Its also great to get in a little practise in front of the camera if you’re generally a little camera shy. The only person you spend more time with on the day of your wedding is actually your betrothed so knowing this person a little better will make for a more comfortable and relaxed experience – minus awkward moments!
