So I recently did my first wedding of the 2013/14 wedding season. The time off over winter is definitely needed after a busy wedding season and then when I first get to start shooting weddings again I tend to get very sentimental and weepy ( yep – behind the camera I am often have a quiet cry during the ceremony!!). This year was no different – Emma and Stephens day was fabulous – and what a wonderful, warm and welcoming group of family and friends they surrounded themselves with on the day. It was truly a pleasure spending the day and evening with them.
And then I got this email from Emma & Stephen….
I just want to take the time to email you a HUGE thank you!!
You really are the most fantastic photographer we could have asked for!!
Thank you so much for being our photographer. We love how you were non-invasive during our ceremony (we didn’t even know you were there). We loved how you made us laugh and made us feel comfortable. We love the taster photos and are excited to see the rest (when you are ready). I’m glad we are going on our honeymoon so something can distract me while we wait. I’m far too impatient. We are so happy we chose you to be our photographer, in our eyes you really are the best.
Not only are your photos amazing, but you are a such a friendly and warm person, that is so important and made a huge difference to us on the day!”
What an awesome buzz to read that – I was definitely feeling the love!!! Messages like these just serve to reinforce to me why I do this and why I love it so much. Shooting weddings can be very busy, stressful, crazy, highly volitile, and completely exhausting. So much time spent with the Bride and Groom mean that I have a great influence on how they perceive their day when looking back on it – I want to make sure they feel hopelessly happy and in love. The way I feel when I head home after its all over, and get to have that first look through the images, and especially getting awesome messages like this, makes every nail biting minute completely worth it. I love it!!! In a big way.
So this one goes out to all my past and future clients – THANKYOU!! For allowing me to do something I love and call it a job.
And to Emma & Stephen, I laughed and cried with you on your awesome wedding day and it was amazing! I am going to keep your email and read it on those days when it has been more stressful, exhausting and full on than usual to remind myself of how much I can influence the day my wedding couples have. I can’t wait for you guys to see the full set of images when you get home. xx Natasha C
